Clearly Indigenous: Native Visions Reimagined in Glass continues at the Museum of Indigenous Arts & Crafts on Museum Hill in Santa Fe. The artists have melded the aesthetics and properties inherent in glass art with their cultural ways of knowing, whether re-interpreting traditional stories and designs in the medium of glass, or expressing contemporary issues affecting Indigenous Nations.
A companion book, available at the museum gift shop, tells these stories and includes photos of most of the works on display.
The exhibit, curated by Dr. Letitia Chambers and museum consultant Cathy Short, features leading indigenous artists from New Mexico and other centers of glass art creativity.
If you haven't already visited the exhibit, move it high on your to-do list and go before June 12, when Clearly Indigenous concludes its one-year run. And if you have been, go again. You will see it differently each time.
